3dtour.eu was founded in 2008 in Budapest, Hungary in order to revolutionize virtual tour technology. Continuous innovation enables us to be an industry-leading virtual tour provider, now offering its services on three continents. Right until jow, we're the only virtual tour provider company awarded with a UNESCO-price.

The beginning in 2008

Our success story began with the development of a custom application enabling us to build ultra-large virtual tours fast and error-free. It was used to create our very first virtual tours about the Palace in Visegrád and the Etnography Museum of Budapest. These two projects were first aired at Denkmal 2008, an exhibition and fair focusing on preservation of cultural monuments.

Year 2009: touristic projects and historic monuments in Hungary

Year 2009 began with touristic commercial projects like the small city of Dunaföldvár, Guesthouse Koppány, Bird Hospital in Hortobágy, Attila cruise ship, Aranyhordó and Danube Palace restaurants in Budapest. A separate website, www.virtualbudapest.eu has been set up to advertise monuments of the capital of Hungary using virtual tour technology. By now it is still the largest virtual tour done by us with its more than 250 panoramic images.

The most significant projects of the year were definitely about the two cathedrals: Saint Stephen's Basilica in Budapest and the Cathedral of Pécs. The latter one is in fact the most complex virtual tour ever built about a cathedral with lots of additional content and texts in 7 languages. It was sold on DVD-s and a year later a shortened version was also released on its website. The 360° virtual tour of Cathedral of Pécs is still a very popular project receiving a monthly rate of 10.000-15.000 of unique visitors even in November 2011.

Year 2010: virtual museum exhibitions, projects in Egypt, ruined city project in Cambodia, UNESCO-Award

The next year, 2010 brought a real boom of virtual tours for us. Just to name a few of them: a complex virtual tour was created about the historic monuments of Budaörs, a small city that was once the home of German settlers close to the capital of Hungary. New museum exhibition virtual tour projects included Danube Museum in Esztergom and Budai bürger, a temporary exhibition of Budapest Historic Museum. Two archeological documentation projects were also completed: Koh Ker, a ruined city in Cambodia with 70 panoramic images and Kisnána, a castle in Hungary.

Our services were expanded to Egypt to provide virtual tours about hotels, ships and diving centers. The first projects included Lighthouse Miracle-1, Lighthouse diving centers in Hurghada and Dahab and Sunrise Select Garden Beach Hotel for Neckermann Hungary.

Alike in 2008, 3dtour.eu represented Hungary as a partner of National Office of Cultural Heritage at Denkmal exhibition in Leipzig, Germany. The most significant event of the year was our UNESCO-award received in November 2010, Rome.

Year 2011: tourism, museum exhibitions and world heritage sites in 360°

Year 2011 began with new projects in Egypt like liveaboard ship New Deal One, Kingtut, Sphinx and Jewels Sahara hotels. New museum exhibition projects were also completed: Freecikli, a temporary exhibition of Budapest History Museum and Gedeon Richter Museum. The latter one is currently our largest museum exhibition virtual tour with more than 400 museum items integrated into the 360° system. Detailed textual descriptions were created in 7 languages.

We've completed again a number of touristic projects in Hungary, like Hotel Albergo Giardino, Dunarama water taxi and RAM Colosseum event hall & restaurant.

In order to further improve the quality of our products, iPhone support and HDR photography were also introduced as an option in our newest projects. However the most important innovation of the year was the establishment of www.visit360.net, the world's first website dedicated to important world heritage sites and off-the-beaten track places in 360°. A large stock photo collection has been established with panoramic photos of monuments of Eastern Asia and the Middle East.
