Saint Francis church is the oldest church of Viziváros district located very close to St. Ann church. From now on you can explore the rich interior of this church from anywhere in the world.

Detailed description of the building

it was built on the spot of a former turkish mosque between 1703 and 1732. Bosnian monks settled here a few years after Buda was retaken from the turks, they started to build their new monastery and a small chapel in 1701. The foundation stone of the new church was layed in 1731 and it was ready by 1741. The east-west building siting follows traditions of the monks. The richly decorated interior was ready by 1756. There is a high contrast between the simple interior and the lavishly decorated interior of the church.
