The first independent exhibition of 19th century realist painter Mihály Munkácsy’s work at St. Petersburg’s Hermitage Museum was held in spring 2018. The exhibition has been organized by the State Hermitage in conjunction with the Museum of Fine Arts – Hungarian National Gallery in Budapest and Imre Pákh, the New York-based collector and President of the International Mihály Munkácsy Foundation. A total of 65 works have been exhibited including the Woman Carrying Brushwood, the portrait of Franz Liszt, a smaller version of his monumental Golgotha trilogy and the Yawning Apprentice.
